Should I drop my student from enrollment in their regular classes at SSD?
No, Please keep your student registered in their normal classes at Surrendered School of Dance. We want to ensure that we are able to resume regular class instruction as soon as we are given the go-ahead from the government to resume. If you drop your student now it will be difficult for us to reach you when classes resume as normal.
Will I be charged tuition for the regular classes that my student is enrolled in or just the online class tuition?
We will only be charging tuition for the Online Classes until the stay at home order is removed. If we are able to resume normal classes during the middle of a month we will apply what you have paid for the online classes to your account at a pro-rated amount based upon how many weeks are remaining in the month.
How do I pay my tuition?
You have three options for paying your tuition. If you signed up for Auto Pay your payment for the online class will still be processed on the 5th of the month; you will not have to do anything. If you do not have auto pay you may log into your account online and pay by credit or debit card or you may mail your tuition payment via check to our main campus at:

Why have you reduced the tuition for online classes?
We want to be a blessing to as many families as possible during this time. Some households incomes have been greatly impacted by the stay-at-home order and we want to make sure that all can still participate in classes. We are working with families who cannot afford the tuition during this time to ensure that their students remain active. If you are in need of assistance please let us know.
We want to help the school. What can we do?
The stay-at-home order has effected our organization in a major way. As our touring company and trainee program are on hold, we have had to cancel programs and our upcoming fundraiser which will impact the ministry through August. We are currently in need of an additional $2,750 in monthly support to maintain minimal operations until we resume full operation in all areas. As we are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization all gifts are tax-deductible.
Ways to help now:
1) PAY YOUR REGULAR TUITION
One way that you can help right now is to opt-in to pay your normal tuition for your students classes. If you would like to pay your normal tuition rates during this time instead of the Online Campus rates, please send us a message and we will make a note on your account.
If you are able to make a one time or monthly donation to help support the ministry during this time you will help to ensure that we can keep the online classes going and maintain minimal operations so we can start right back up when the stay at home order is lifted.

At this time, we are still planning to hold a recital but the dates may change. We are providing links to videos of your students recital song so that they can practice at home.
Can I withdraw my student then re-enroll after the stay-at-home is lifted and still have them participate in the recital?
Unfortunately the answer is no. As there may not be much time before the recital, we need your students to continue dancing at home and learning their choreography for their recital dance in order for them to participate in the recital. You may place your child's classes on hold or drop them from the class but if you return after the stay-at-home order is lifted, please know that a portion of the class will be devoted to rehearsing the recital piece.
How often should I expect to receive an email with a class link?
We will be sending emails once per week for most classes. We will try to have classes posted by 4:00pm on the days listed below and will do our best to maintain the following schedule as closely as possible:
Monday: Pre-Ballet, Ballet 1, Ballet 2, Pointe 2, Beginning Adult Ballet
Tuesday: Ballet 3/4, Contemporary
Thursday: Ballet 3/4, Pre-Pointe/Pointe 1
Ballet 5/6: Will be invited to live streamed classes Monday - Friday at 11:00am. Filmed classes will be added 2 - 3 times per week. New students who are not already taking classes at our studio will not have access to the live-stream classes and will only have access to the recordings.
We will attempt to keep consistent dates and times for releasing videos but they may come out late on occasion due to technology limitations. Each video filmed in our studio takes an average of 3-hours of production time to teach, edit, compress, and upload. Videos that are produced from home studios take an additional 2-hours of upload and download time before post production can begin. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we navigate these new waters.
Will my student have their normal teacher from the studio teaching their online class?
In some cases the answer is yes but unfortunately for some the answer is no. Many of our teachers returned to their home states to be with their families during the stay-at-home order so logistically it would be very difficult to provide a consistent quality of videos from each teacher.
Who will be teaching the online classes?
Online classes will be taught by a few of the Director's, teachers, and staff of Surrendered School of Dance!!! We will try to keep the teachers consistent from week to week but from time to time classes may be taught by another instructor. All of our instructors are well qualified and have taught in our school in the past. By sharing the responsibility of teaching we are helping to keep some of our teachers on payroll during this season while continuing to provide your students with the level of instruction that they are used to having at our campuses.
Teaching responsibilities for the online campus will be shared by Larissa Bischoff, Tabi Spurlin, Annie Dick, Skylar Moore, Amanda Moore, and Emily Beach.
How long will you be producing the online classes?
We will be producing the online classes for as long as we need to create them during this current health situation. If the stay-at-home order continues into the summer we may continue to produce classes during those months to help keep your students active while at home. We will continue to evaluate the effectiveness of the online classes and the response from the community. If you like what these classes are providing for your students; please let us know!! We would love to hear from you.
Why are you filming some of your classes in the studio with a stay-at-home order in place?
For videos and live streams produced from our studio, there is an exemption in the Washington State Stay at Home Order (Proclamation 20-25) for Artists filming videos for instruction and streaming services. We confirmed with the state that we are in compliance in filming from our studio and have received an official response to proceed as long as we maintain sanitation and distancing standards. We want to assure you that we are taking this current health situation seriously and are maintaining sanitation and distancing standards at all times when in the studio. Our teachers are only coming in when needed and on alternating days and times as the other instructors.
